We have a two acre block with grand plans for elaborate enclosed rotating garden beds. Unfortunately, we can't yet afford to build them.
But not wanting to wait to start growing vegetables, we gathered up our empty pots, mounted them out of the reach of rabbits and planted lettuce, leeks, broccoli, cauliflower, red spring onions and garlic.
There is nothing like walking into your garden, pulling out fresh crisp vegetables, shaking the dirt off and throwing them straight into the pan. Priceless.

I can't grow anything but weeds and kids! I grew 5 of them and did a pretty good job so I'll just have to be satisfied with that. Blessings to you from NanaHood.com!
ReplyDeleteI'd be pretty happy with that effort!
DeleteSo cute! I can't keep plants alive for nothing! I love the contrast of the hat in your picture!!

Give it another go Carrie! I love that hat too :-)
DeleteWhat a beautiful space! My daughter was picking rocket last night for her salad too :)
ReplyDeleteIt crunches like the one in the supermarket does not!
DeleteYay for the garden! I've never been able to grow anything.

Have another go Joyce. I love seeing things grow.
DeleteWhat a great idea to mount them! It's so nice to have a veggie garden. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIf we didn't the rabbits would have had a good feast by now!
DeleteI would love a garden like that, LOL @ the hat so cute :-)
ReplyDeleteGet a few pots and away you go Steve!
DeleteWhat a fabulous garden!
ReplyDeleteThanks Wayne. You have to start somewhere!
DeleteWOW you did great. Sadly we're in need of rain. It's really dry in the middle of the US. No one grew much of anything.
ReplyDeleteWe need rain here in Australia too. Thankfully a few pots aren't too demanding on our water supply. In saying that, the tank is currently empty!
DeleteOh, Bree! That's just lovely!
ReplyDeleteWe're currently experiencing issues with a marauding bunny. He sits in our potplants, squashing them flat and eats them. Luckily, he's our beloved pet bunny whom we adore!
Oh if it's your marauding bunny its totally different!
DeleteYour gardens look great! You must be so pleased. Thanks for hosting and Happy WW!
ReplyDeleteI find growing food to be exciting!
DeleteThere's nothing better than growing your own veggies. I'm very envious. It looks like you have plenty of space to do it too!
ReplyDeleteWe do! We just have to be patient in getting it all under way :-)
DeleteWe tried to grow a veggie patch, it lasted one season. Sadly the Guinea Pigs got more enjoyment of the veggies than we did. Your garden looks great! Wish we still lived on acreage.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo, great veggie patch, great hat!!! Thanks for hosting and have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThanks Meryl :-)
DeleteWish I could have a garden at my apartment too haha
ReplyDeleteAi @ Sakura Haruka

Great Garden! There is nothing like growing your own vegies. We built raised garden beds from second hand bricks and use the layered methos of gardening. It's lovely, but I would LOVE two acres to play with!
ReplyDeletexx
We are thinking of using the left over bricks in the photos for garden beds. We have two whole pallets to use up that are leftover from our house.
DeleteYour garden is gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you Miss Yvette!
DeleteTwo acres would be lovely! We have the smallest of vegie gardens in our little suburban yard. It's so nice to pick and eat something fresh. Yours looks like it's going great in the pots! x
ReplyDeleteSomething is better than nothing!
DeleteIt's looking good Bree! You'll soon be able to reap the rewards.
ReplyDeletePrue x
Quiche with home grown spring onions for dinner!
DeleteGreat garden shots. Wish I could grow my own, but I have a black thumb! Yours look great!
ReplyDeleteGive it another go Theresa :-)
DeleteLooks fantastic! We've just had a lovely harvest of carrots...nothing compares to the taste does it?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great little garden. Neat idea.
ReplyDeleteA women after my own heart, your garden looks like a child paradise!
ReplyDeleteIt is and hopefully will get better. We have plans to build a trellis tee pee, hopscotch, a fairy garden, a medieval stone castle, his very own garden beds and more. This kid would live outside 24/7 if he could!
DeleteLooks lovely.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Garden you have there.
ReplyDeleteI don't have much of a green thumb, but after seeing your delicious veges i might just have to give it another try!
Oh do!
Delete2 acres would be great. I've just moved into a house with a little garden and all I've managed to grow is dandelions and buttercups.
ReplyDeleteI would love a great big vegetable garden. I have never been successful in growing anything. But I am determined. Rachel xx
ReplyDeletesuch a beautiful garden!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the linky,
I have a linky on my Wordless Wednesday post as well...

I tried really hard with a garden this year but we just don't have enough sunlight with the towering trees surrounding our house. I got maybe 1 tomato a week :( I think we'll still to fall and spring gardens only and just grow herbs in the summer.
ReplyDeleteWhatever works - we have plenty of sun and not much shade which is why we have planted about 60 trees! We need more of a micro-climate. Just work with what you have :-)
DeleteWhat a great picture of the little one! Your garden's lovely too. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea - and yep freshly grown veggies are the best ever!
ReplyDeleteAwesome shots! Thanks for linking up with Our Journey!
ReplyDeleteGood looking lot of veggies they are, yep, agree, nothing better than eating home grown.
ReplyDeleteI love my herb garden but not so much space available for vegies. I need to get some space saver planter boxes and grow some!
ReplyDeleteYou absolutely should Toni :-)
DeleteWow, they're some good looking vegies!!
ReplyDeleteLovely blog! I'm now following with Google+ and Twitter. Thanks for linking up on my Picture Perfect Party Linky at http://abooksandmore.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI love your vegies - the cows just knocked down my fence and ate my kale last week.
