My one year old is holding a grudge - a big one


Who knew a 1 year old could hold a grudge - for three whole days!

 I left the Squishy for the first time this week for two nights to attend my Aunt's funeral. On my return, my normally adoring boy has given me the cold shoulder.

 I thought I might get an excited reaction when I came home - completely average.

I offered up cuddles when he fell sideways off his rocking horse, he looked at me warily before running into the kitchen to find his Daddy.

 Holding him in the kitchen, I got a grumpy look and a whack before he reached for his Daddy.

 He now chants "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy" rather than "Mummy, Mummy, Mummy".

 Reaching over to hold his hand in the car, he gives me a dirty look before brushing my hand away and moving himself out of reach.

 Three whole days of grudgery! What the hell? Apparently 17 months of constant love and devotion counts for nothing. Little traitor.

 Daddy is lapping it up, smirking at my crest fallen face each time I am rejected in lieu of his attention. Shit head. He has no sympathy for my broken heart. Although I probably shouldn't be too hard on him, I arrived home to a happy boy who was clean, safe, warm and well fed as well as a tidy home and dinner pre-prepared. 

 I am begrudgingly thankful and will be more so when my one year old stops tromping on my heart.

Have to agree with Monica - wait until your 20yo tramps all over your heart (because you know they know better and shouldn't do it to you) - in the meantime, hang in there, the tide will turn and you will be wearing the smirk on your face !

Awww I dread the day the Little Mister (turns 1 next week) figures out how to hold a grudge for longer than five seconds!! I'm really going to feel like a mean mummy then!!
Your little man sounds soooo cute though and it's good he bonded with his daddy while you were away. I'm sure the status quo will be back to normal even as I type this xx
