Sustainable me - learning to live life lightly
I must say I'm a little freaked out. It happens from time to time, but this time it's different, I feel compelled to act and act seriously.
You see it on television, you read it in newspapers, books and on the net. It's what we are doing to ourselves and our planet.
Think over population, peak oil, climate change, food shortages, water shortages, energy shortages, globalisation, mass migration, natural disasters, war, social unrest, ageing population, terrorism, nuclear proliferation, genetic engineering, loss of arable land and on it goes. It's enough to make anyone want to bury their head in the sand and we do because it is all too hard and what can we possibly do to change things?
This week, I'm going to blog about ways to live more sustainably. I'm going to share what I'm doing and what I aspire to do in order to walk more lightly on the earth. In doing this, I am thinking of my children and my children's children.
I want to encourage you to read along and if you don't already, think about implementing some of these changes in your own life. If you do, I would love to hear about it.
So here we go...
