My Chubby Butt: Week 1 - Pedometer Kerfuffle

Week one of Operation Chubby Butt is over. Read here to learn more.

I'm pleased to report a weight loss of 1.5kg. Go me!

I'm not sure how I managed this as I was not as disciplined as I should have been. In saying that, my eating was much improved, it's amazing the difference small changes can make.

The dead pedometer
I started the week with my little pedometer, but this soon turned to crap.

The little bugger kept working it's way off my pants and when I put it back on I would accidentally reset it back to 0. I did this over and over again!

After being dropped about 10 times, it met its final demise when the Squishy saw it, pulled it off my pants and popped it straight into his mouth.  Pedometer and Squishy spit don't mix. My pedometer is dead. It didn't survive one week!

In the days it did work, I got a general idea of how far I need to walk into order to meet the milestone. On work days, going for a long walk in my lunch break is essential and on days off fitting in a thirty minute walk.

Food wise, this week I am going to keep a food diary. It's easy to get 'food amnesia' and a food diary will make me more accountable. I'm less inclined to eat it if I have to write it down.

So this week I will be hunting down a new and more sturdy pedometer. Hopefully this one will survive me and the Squishy!

Would anyone like to join me the 10,000 Steps challenge?

  2. You're off to an awesome start :)
I got a really flash calorie counting/heart rate/pedometer watch earlier this year and I am yet to take it out of the damn box!! I really need to though. I am curious about what I burn just in an average day. Must get onto it - thanks for the unintentional reminder!!

    1. Pedometers are good at giving you an idea of how active you actually are - or are not! I need to move more, particularly on days I work. Get it out of the box Kez. You can do it with me :-)
