Date Night with Guy Sebastian

Last night, the hubby and I had our first date night in 12 months.

Guy Sebastian was in town and I've been a fan since he appeared on Australian Idol with the fuzzy fro singing Climb Every Mountain. Need a flashback?

So when tickets went on sale, I was in the pre-sale line, spending twice as much as everyone else for third row seats.

The hubby's not a huge fan, but can certainly appreciate his incredible voice.

Me on the other hand, I confess, when the first Australian Idol grand final took place, I attended a public event with my mum to watch it on the big screen. I wore a fuzzy fro and my mum wore Guy Sebastian earrings she made from pictures cut out of a magazine. Conveniently, I can't find the photos from that historic event...what a shame!

Guy is looking much more refined these days. He's lost weight, he obviously works out, I'm quite sure he waxes his arms, his hair is immaculately groomed and I suspect a little eye brow work. He looks shiny. But most importantly, the voice is better than ever.

We had a lovely time. Our little Squishy was tucked up asleep with his Aunty, safe and sound.

It was good to go out as a couple again and I felt very comfortable having waited twelve months to do it. The Squishy is at an age and stage where he is secure and comfortable to be looked after without distress.

I had a friend suggest to me that the Squishy should sleep over with grandparents and family at about three months of age so we could go out. I had absolutely no desire to do this. At the time, his place was with us and his father agreed. The umbilical cord did not stretch that far for either of us.

We are thankful for time together, thankful for the Squishy's care and thankful for Guy Sebastian who provided an awesome night of entertainment, so I'm linking up with Kate Says Stuff for Thankful Thursday. Thanks Kate!

That would have been fantastic! I was in camp Shannon for Aussy Idol that year, but I'm a Guy fan now. Glad you had a great time :-)

Hooray! Date night!! I know how precious those are. Especially when you want a night where you're not actually spending the whole time thinking about your baby, because you've ignored your instincts and left him when he wasn't (or you weren't) ready!
My husband and I have left our Little Mister with his grandparents a handful of times over the last 7 months, but never big, extended stays without us eventually sleeping over in the same house or picking him up after a few hours.
We have so many friends who think we're weird and that we haven't stretched him enough, but we feel fine with our decisions. For me, I don't want to just leave him so I can go out every weekend like I never had a child. It has to be a special occasion! He's been stretched in many other ways over his little lifetime and every baby reacts differently.
So glad you had a great time :)

I am so glad you had such a great night. I am just a little bit jealous. Ok a lot jealous as I too love Mr Sebastian. :-) I hope you get to do something special together like this more often. Love the photos.

I was so upset Guy was in Melbourne the night we LEFT Melbourne to come home to the Gold Coast. I bet he was brilliant, I love him, and don't care how much flack I cop from friends for being a huge fan! Though I'm glad Climb Every Mountain isn't on any of his CDs I have! Great voice, but seriously?! Whose song choice was that?! Glad you had a great time! We are off to Keith Urban in January. My hubby not a huge fan either but happy for a night out with me. LOL!

Climb Every Mountain - awesome song. He pulled off a song by a nun! I cop a bit of flack too but I don't care! Have fun at Keith Urban :-)

They think we're weird as well. I don't care. We are doing what's right for us and the fact is I love my little fella and I want to be with him. Nothing wrong with that. Thanks Kez.

He was terrific and if you get the opportunity you should go. Worth the money, time and effort.
